You are cordially invited to Pilgrim’s Day of Giving Celebration Sponsored by the Dave Maring Endowment Committee
October 23, 2020 at 7 p.m.
Featuring funny and inspiring messages from: Pastor Chris Becker, Dale and Beata Halter, Michael and Doris Knuth, Judy Kiehm, Beth Ruppe, Mike Suhajda, Principal Chris Comella, current teachers and staff, and of course, both recorded and live appearances from Mr. David Maring
At Pilgrim Lutheran Church and School in Chicago, the staff is incorporating theories they learned at an in-service workshop by Wheatridge Ministries to help increase students’ learning. That workshop taught that “brain breaks” are essential to student learning, and therefore, teachers are regularly leading their students in kinesthetic activities in the classroom to help them boost their performance, says Pilgrim Principal Chris Comella.
Pilgrim Lutheran School has been selected for the 2018 Best of Chicago Award in the Preschools category by the Chicago Award Program. Each year, the Chicago Award Program identifies companies that they believe have achieved exceptional marketing success in their local community and business category. These exceptional companies help make the Chicago area a great place to live, work and play. Various sources of information were gathered and analyzed to choose the winners in each category. The 2018 Chicago Award Program focuses on quality, not quantity. Winners are determined based on the information gathered both internally by the Chicago Award Program and data provided by third parties. Congratulations to our teachers Mrs. Bataneant, Mrs. Smith, Mr. Comella, and to everyone here at Pilgrim on this prestigious award!
Comella Among Nation’s Best K-8 Principals
Pilgrim Lutheran School Principal Chris Comella has been named a 2018 National Distinguished Principal by the National Association of Elementary School Principals.
Each year the NAESP honors elementary and middle-school principals from across the country who set high standards for instruction, student achievement, character, and culture for their students, families, and staff members. Comella was one of only four private school principals to be recognized this year.
